In most cases, rolling back to a previous version of MoneyWorks® is not straightforward, particularly once your data file has been opened in the newer version.

Why rollback is difficult

When MoneyWorks® opens a file in a newer version, it upgrades the file format. This upgrade is one-way — a file opened in a newer version cannot be opened in an older version without restoring from a backup made before the upgrade.

Your options

  1. Restore from backup — if you have a backup of both the software installer and the data file from before the upgrade, you can restore to the previous state. Always keep regular backups for this reason.
  2. Contact Cognito — in some cases, Cognito may be able to provide a previous installer version. Contact AWG Finance support and we can help facilitate this.
  3. Work with the issue — if the problem is a bug introduced in the new version, report it via support. A patch is usually faster than a rollback.
Best practice: Always back up your data file and note your current version number before updating. Go to Help → About MoneyWorks to find your version.

If you're experiencing a specific problem after updating, submit a support ticket describing the issue — we may be able to resolve it without a rollback.
