This guide walks you through downloading and installing MoneyWorks® on both macOS and Windows. The process is the same regardless of which edition you use (Cashbook, Express, Gold, or Datacentre).

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • Your MoneyWorks® serial number (from your purchase confirmation email)
  • An internet connection for the download
  • Administrator access on your computer
Note: MoneyWorks® requires macOS 12 (Monterey) or later, or Windows 10/11 64-bit.

Step 1 — Download the installer

  1. Go to moneyworks.ai/downloads
  2. Select your operating system (macOS or Windows)
  3. Click Download MoneyWorks® — approximately 180 MB

Step 2 — Install on macOS

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file
  2. Drag the MoneyWorks Gold icon into your Applications folder
  3. Eject the disk image
  4. Open MoneyWorks® from your Applications folder or Launchpad
  5. If macOS blocks the app, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway

Step 3 — Install on Windows

  1. Run the downloaded .exe installer
  2. If Windows Defender SmartScreen shows a warning, click More info → Run anyway
  3. Follow the installation wizard — the default path is recommended
  4. Click Finish when complete
  5. Launch MoneyWorks® from the Start menu or desktop shortcut

Step 4 — Activate your licence

On first launch, MoneyWorks® runs in trial mode. To activate:

  1. Go to Help → Register (macOS) or Help → Enter Serial Number (Windows)
  2. Enter your serial number exactly as it appears in your email
  3. Click Register — an internet connection is required
Tip: Keep your serial number somewhere safe. You'll need it if you reinstall or move to a new computer.
